Space.com's Sarah Lewin joins Cheddar to talk about the highly-anticpated total solar eclipse hitting the U.S. this August. The astronomical phenomenon is expected to be visible across the a large swath of the country for the first time in nearly a century.
NASA wants eclipse viewers across America to be scientists by using their smartphones during the event. The Space Agency released an app known as GLOBE, which compiles data to analyze after the moon and sun cross paths.
But when you're not looking at your phone, take care to make sure you don't go blind staring at the sun! Companies are making real cash on the sales of solar eclipse glasses. The shades will prevent tourists from buring the backs of their eyes, which is a major risk during eclipses.
