Unacast, a location data service provider, announced its Series A funding live on Cheddar on Tuesday. The company detailed how retailers will use their platform, which powers the world’s largest proximity network, to target customers both online and in brick-and-mortar stores. Thomas Walle, the CEO and Founder of Unacast stated, “We’re deploying millions of sensors around the world called ‘beacons’ and every time a person interacts with these beacons they leave a digital footprint behind…Unacast is the backend of that data where we collect and understand what people are doing in the physical world.” “Data is the surest thing when it comes to advertising,” said Unacast CRO Chris Cunningham. “We want the entire ecosystem to build a feed off of that data.”
