Former Rep. Barney Frank: John McCain's Health Care Vote Made Up For Sarah Palin
9m 1s
The former representative from Massachusetts joins Cheddar to explain why the GOP health care bill failed. Frank thinks that, even if McCain voted for the bill, it would have failed regardless. However, he explains the symbolic role McCain's vote played, adding that it made up "for Sarah Palin."
Frank also breaks down what he thinks about Trump's trans ban in the military, explaining that when "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" came into play, Republicans said it would be a major disruption for the military. He points out that didn't end up being true. Frank says President Trump's claim that transgender people would cost the armed forces a "tremendous" amount of money in health care is similarly misguided.
Barney Frank is a former politician and board member of the New York-based Signature Bank. He previously served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Massachusetts from 1981 to 2013.
