The latest cyber security attack on credit reporting company Equifax may have compromised the personal information of nearly half the U.S. population. In a tweet Thursday, the company said, "We apologize to our consumers and business customers for the concern and frustration this causes." Gary Steele, CEO of enterprise security company Proofpoint, says that as vigilant as consumers get about protecting identity, bad actors are getting much better. This is making it tougher than ever for companies to protect user data. Steele says 90 percent of cyber attacks go after individuals, rather than companies.
