Ralph Bishop, Head of Design at Giphy, discusses the company's new app "Giphy World," which takes typical gifs and puts them into the real world. Bishop notes that "Giphy World" is targeting people who have a hard time expressing themselves, as well as the artists of the world. We also talk with Bishop about the presence of gifs across platforms, noting that they are on everything from Facebook to Tinder, trying to make communication over social media even more personal. We ask Bishop what he thinks success looks like for "Giphy World." For the new app, he says success means having as many people using the platform as possible so that Giphy can learn how to expand and grow the product for its next iteration.
